Russell Dean Barron

Russell "Rusty" Dean Barron passed away from this life on August 27th, 2023 at the age of 74 at his beloved cabin. Rusty was born April 7th, 1949 in Muse, Oklahoma to Billy W. and Betty Jo Barron. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1967. Rusty was a member of the United States Army and served for two years during the Vietnam War Era. After his time in the U.S. Army, he was employed with the Kiamichi Electric Cooperative for 28 Years before retiring to enjoy what he really loved to do, which was hunting. Rusty was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. If you knew Rusty, then you knew he always had on camo and never met a stranger. He loved being surrounded by his family most of all, and dearly loved being surrounded by his grandchildren and great granddaughter and going to all of their activities. He was always positive and thankful for each day given to him. Rusty will be greatly missed by his family and the community. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Billy W. and Betty Jo Barron; brother, Ricky Dale Barron, and loving partner (Billy) Hooter Ramsey. Rusty is survived by his former wife Phyllis Bowman and children: Lisa Barron and Darrell Rainwater of Whitesboro, Oklahoma; Russell and Amanda Barron of Muse, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Hunter and Nicole Tidwell of Fort Worth, Texas; Jayde and Colton Gamble of Van Buren, Arkansas; Kinley Barron of Muse, Oklahoma; Saddler Barron of Muse, Oklahoma; and great granddaughter, Reese Gamble of Van Buren, Arkansas; brother, Mike Barron of Mena, AR; bonus brother Larry Kennedy; bonus son, Cody Kennedy; aunt, Cleva Dehart of Muse, OK; along with other friends and relatives that will miss him dearly. Pallbearers include Cody Kennedy, Kenneth Rose, Roy Culley, Devan Abeyta, Paul Young, and Bubba Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers include Bob Owens, Vern Hunter, George Humphreys, Dewayne Culley, and Steve Young. Visitation will be on Friday September 1st, 2023 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma. Services will be on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at Whitesboro School Gym at 10:00AM. Services are under the direction of McCarn Funeral Service.
