Leona Kay Tate

Leona Kay Tate, age 80 of Yanush, Oklahoma passed away from this life into Heaven's Gates on May 14, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. Leona was born on September 28, 1944 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Effie (Hale) and Walter Lee Pass. Leona married the love of her life, Rodney Wayland Tate on Oct 7, 1961 in Yanush, Oklahoma and they began their life journey together. Their journey included opening Rod's Swap Shop store in Yanush where she loved to visit with each and every customer that came in. She taught Sunday School at Tate Chapel Church for many years and enjoyed sharing God's word with all of her "Sunday School Kids". She was also know for having the best desserts for the church meals. Leona had a passion for flowers, reading and painting, but most of all, she loved sharing her love for Christ. Leona touched many hearts and loved many people. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Leona is survived by her son, Rodney Tate Jr. and wife Judy of Yanush; grandson, Tim Cantrell and wife April of Buffalo Valley; two great grandchildren, Alex Cantrell and KateLynn Stodola; sisters, Donna Pace of McAlester, Ruby Miles of Wilburton, Mary Pace of Wilburton, Brenda Pass of Yanush; brother -in- law, William Seyler of Wilburton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and a host of friends and all of her precious Sunday School Kids. Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Rod Tate; parents, Walter and Effie Pass; brothers, John Pass, and Gary Pass; sister, Sherry Seyler; nieces, Carey Pace, Carolyn Pace, Becky Clarkson; brothers - in - law, Fred Pace, Millard Pace, Palmer Pace, and John Miles. Pallbearers are Leon Black, Franklin Dighton, Randy Tonubbee, Hoot Bell, Blake Rose, Vernis King. Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Burnett, John Anderson, Jack Sparks, Lyle Pugh, and Truman Rogers Visitation will be on Sunday May 18, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma. Services will be on Monday, May 19 2025 from 10:00 AM at Tate Chapel in Yanush, Oklahoma with Bro. Rodney Tate and Chad Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Cupco Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
