Helen Lycrecia Hicks

Helen Lycrecia (Cupit) Hicks, 71 of the Holly Creek Community, southwest of Broken Bow, OK passed away on September 29, 2025 at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, TX. Born in Dodge City, Kansas on January 6, 1954 to Bill and Dorene Cupit, Lycrecia or Crisha was known for being both a kind hearted person and for having a strong work ethic. That work ethic allowed her to provide for herself and mother after graduation from high school in 1972. Lycrecia was always willing to assist any person whom she knew! From assisting family members to friends, Lycrecia's love of other people knew no bounds. Truly, she "went about doing good." On December 2, 1977 in two ceremonies at Idabel & Benton, Arkansas, Lycrecia married Oren Lee Hicks from Idabel, Oklahoma. Although the union ended, Lee and Lycrecia had one son together, Brian Curtis Hicks, born in 1983. Lycrecia was not affiliated with any particular church, but she was a strong believer in God, Jesus Christ, and the Divine Power of Divine Revelation. Lycrecia found strength Bible readings and in her favorite artist, CeCe Winans, and in the song, "Come Jesus, Come!" Lycrecia also loved auctions, estate sales, and anything that was a good deal. In later years, Lycrecia had the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world with her most recent trip to Iceland. She often said that her favorite country she visited was Switzerland for its magnificent scenery. She said many times to various people that if one has a chance to travel, to do it. Lycrecia is preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Dorene Cupit; brother, Rex Cupit; sisters, Betty Cruz and Carolyn Sue Williams; nephews, Jimmy Lingo, Danny Butler and Steven Butler; nieces, Lisa Williams, Christie Cupit, and Jacqueline Going. Lycrecia is survived by her son, Brian Hicks of Broken Bow; brothers, Randy Cupit of Broken Bow, Bob Cupit of Englewood, CO, Bill Cupit of Seminole, OK, and Jack Cupit of McAlester, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family; also her best friend and second sister, Lina from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the ICU staff at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center particularly nurses Bianca and Monique for their meticulous care during Lycrecia's final moments. Furthermore, to coworkers and friends at Choctaw Nation Tribal Transit, we say Yakoke (Thank You) for reaching out and expressing sorrow at this difficult time. "Let our fathers will be done. She shines in endless days!" Funeral Services are pending at this time.
