Louise McCormick

Louise McCormick, age 92 of Tuskahoma, Oklahoma passed away from this life on February 23, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. Louise was born on January 25, 1933 in Cupco, OK to Virgil May Mattox and Hazel Tabitha (Evans) Mattox. Louise attended school at Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma where she met and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Roy Leon McCormick on September 16, 1948 at the Latimer County Courthouse in Wilburton, OK. Together they built several successful businesses including two Hickory House barbecue restaurants, one in Talihina, Oklahoma and the other in Sallisaw Oklahoma. Louise graduated from Dental Assistant school and worked in Talihina and later in Sallisaw for approximately 20 years until her retirement. In approximately 1994, they remodeled, decorated and moved back to the Mattox family home in Yanush that she grew up in and lived there until her death. Louise love decorating her home, gardening, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren, and her beloved ever faithful dog, Bo. During her life, Louise was the treasurer for a number of years at Yanush Assembly of God Church, as well as volunteering for several years at the Yanush Community Senior Citizens Center. Louise is survived by her beloved brother Brady Mattox, two children; Dennis Glen McCormick and wife Samantha Baccus- McCormick and Vickie Lusby and husband Joe and a bonus daughter, Twyla Stafford; five grandchildren, Kimberly McCormick, Alycia Lusby wife Samantha Myers, Chris Lusby, Jordan DiAnna Newhoff, and Paige Marie McCormick. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Phoenix Bartolomeo and Gwendolynn Caitlyn Sue Newhoff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws that she treasured each and everyone. They all meant so very much to her. Louise was proceeded in death by her husband Roy Leon McCormick, her parents Virgil and Tabitha Mattox, and her brother Howard Mattox. Visitation will be at the McCarn Funeral Service at 500 Dallas St. in Talihina, OK. from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Sunday March 2nd, 2025 Graveside Services will be on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at 2:00PM at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, Oklahoma with Bro. Dustin Grammar officiating. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina. The family will host a Celebration of Life at the Huddleston Arena on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 12:30 PM -2:30 PM. Her church family and community friends are welcome to attend.
