Johnnie Gearldine Neal Grammer was born June 6th, 1931 in Dawson, OK and passed from this life on January 23rd, 2022 in Antlers, OK at the age of 90 years old. Gearldine was born to John Henry Neal and Omma Lee Patton. Gearldine was raised by her Granny Neal and Grandpa Neal. She married Calvin Edward Grammer on December 10th, 1948 in Antlers, OK. At the age of 17 years old, Gearldine and Calvin moved to Oregon for work. They lived in Oregon and had three sons, Dennis, Larry and Terry. Gearldine worked as a strawberry picker and waitress while in Oregon. In 1957, Gearldine and Calvin moved back to the Oklahoma on the old Grammer home place. Gearldine and Calvin had four more children, John, Mark Jeffery and Lisa. Gearldine had many assorted hobbies, occupations and businesses over the years. She was a switch board operator, owner/operator Clayton Laundry Mat, Licensed Beautician, owned a beauty shop in Clayton. She worked in Ft. Smith at Pillsbury cutting chickens, worked at Wilco's in Tulsa. Gearldine was a caregiver for her husband, Calvin, during later years. She worked at the lake with OSU team to dig and explore artifacts. Gearldine worked at the Cartwright Memorial Library, tax preparer, and sold Mary Kay. Gearldine was active in the community throughout the years- a member of the quilting club, arts & crafts club, Homecoming Committee, city council, American Legion, volunteer at the Lighthouse Food Pantry, Lighthouse Cathedral Church Ladies group and many other community activities. She had a passion for arts and crafts. Gearldine loved to paint and painted many beautiful pictures during the years. She loved Christmas and over the last several years kept her home decorated in Christmas theme. Gearldine is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gearldean Grammer McKaughan, and Lisa's husband, Robert McKaughan, of the home in Clayton, OK. Sons and family- Dennis and Sara Grammer of Tennesee, Larry and Barbara (Roach) Grammer of Florida, Terry and Barbara (Elliott) Grammer of North Carolina, John and Connie Grammer of Oklahoma, Mark and Pam Grammer of Oklahoma, and Jeffery Grammer of Oklahoma. The matriarch of the Grammer family left a legacy with the addition of 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Gearldine was a special friend and mother of many. She was preceded in death by Calvin Grammer, husband, John Henry Neal, father, Omma Lee Patton Neal Tunnell, mother, Theodore Roosevelt Tunnell, step-father, Reuben Thomas Neal, grandfather, Dora Ella Pruitt Neal, grandmother, Vivian Marie Moore Dickson, sister, Melvin Lee Neal, brother, Pamela Smith Grammer, daughter-in-law, and Stanley Grammer, step-son. Pallbearers: Children-Dennis, Larry, Terry, John, Mark, Jeffery and Lisa. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert McKaughan, Wesley "Chick" Adams Koopman, Rocky Burleson, Bob Holt, Terry Dean Miller, Tillman Sharp, Mike Van Horn and Eddie McIntosh Visitation will be on Friday, January 28th, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at McCarn Funeral Chapel in Clayton, Oklahoma. Services will be on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at 10:00AM at the Lighthouse Cathedral in Clayton, Oklahoma with Bro. Brian McClain and Thomas Edward Grammer officiating. Interment will follow at the Old City Cemetery in Clayton, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
