Helen Short age 78 of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away from this life on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 at her home in McAlester, Oklahoma with her family by her side. Helen was born on August 9th, 1941 to Claudine (Flynn) Adams and Lonnie Adams in McAlester, Oklahoma. She has been a life long member of the Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church. She loved to sing and play the piano, accordion and guitar. She loved her family and liked to cook, especially for the holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter when all the family (kids, grandkids, and neighborhood kids) would gather in her small home to celebrate with Granny and Grandpa. Throughout the years, she has been a Sunday school teacher, counselor (the experienced kind, not the certified kind), encourager, and dear friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her children, Kathy Earp and husband David of McAlester, Oklahoma, Vicky Long and husband Tim of Scipio, Oklahoma, James H. Short Jr. and wife Angela of McAlester, Oklahoma; sister, Georgia Sims and husband Luther of McAlester, Oklahoma; brother, Steve Wayne Adams and wife Joyce (Tiny) of McAlester, Oklahoma. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Short Sr., son, Tracey D. Short; father, Lonnie Adams; mother, Claudine Adams; sisters, Barbara Suter, and Mary Rogers; brother, Howard Lonnie Adams; grandparents, George and Orphia Adams, and Poindexter and Mary Flynn. Pallbearers will be Timothy Conley, Anthony Conley, Christian Conley, Harley Short, Chuck Leeper, and Richard Earp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shawn Earp, Eric Leeper, and Bradford Basden. Graveside Services will be on Friday, February 7th, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Tannehill Cemetery with Rev. Steven Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
