Nettie Dorothea Sands

Nettie Dorothea (Marten) Sands, age 84 of Honobia, Oklahoma went to her heavenly home on October 17th, 2022. Nettie was born on September 12th, 1938 in Whitter, California to Christene Dorthea (Boatwright) and Emil Marten. Nettie married Erman Henry Sands in August of 1975 in Reno, Nevada. She worked as an activity director in Auburn, California at Foothill Hospital. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also fostered 43 foster children. Her family was her life. Nettie loved her art, it was her passion. She could paint and draw anything. She drove an eighteen wheeler for 10 years across the United States and Canada. She absolutely loved being in and around water. She could out float anyone. Nettie was a very special person who loved helping people and animals. She worked trail rides for the Tevis Cup and she helped start the Western States Run in California. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her precious memory; husband, Erman Sands of the home; son, Harold Maher and wife Teresa; son, Steven Maher and wife Marge; daughter, Therese' Scarberry and husband Ronnie; daughter, Christine Liebgott and husband Robert; grandchildren, Nettie Rae Cross and husband Shawn, Stephanie O'Roark and husband Michael, Tara Lynch, Michael Maves, Nikki Maves, Stephanie Liebgott Rekers, Jillian Miller and husband Adam, Lindsay Swink and husband Steven, Brandy Bond and husband Stephen; twenty nine great grandchildren as well as numerous foster children, extended family and friends. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Christene and Emil Marten; one grandson, Josh Maher. Pallbearers will be Keith Lowe, John Clawson, Glen Noah, Nathan Atteberry, Nathaniel Atteberry, and Chris Cline. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Sossamon, Russell Atteberry and Gary Lowe. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma. Services will be on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at 10:00AM at Honobia First Baptist Church in Honobia, Oklahoma with Bro. Marty Potts officiating. Interment will follow at Nolia Cemetery in Nashoba, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
