Mary Louise Culley

On Sunday August 18th, 2024 Mary Louise Culley passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 84. She was born on September 9, 1939 to Mary (Payne) and Roy Griffith at home near Barney Creek in Whitesboro, Oklahoma. Lou attended school in Albion, OK where she was in the last graduating class (at age 16) in 1956. She met the love of her life, Bill Culley at age 23 and they were married on March 6, 1964 in Norman, OK. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together this year. She worked at Bell Telephone company for 8 years and then Lou retired from the Talihina Tag Agency after serving 25 years. She and Bill could always be found setting on the back porch or in a pasture tending to the cows, sheep or chickens. Lou loved her chickens. On Saturday nights, Lou was always playing Bingo with her best friend, Janie Pearl. She loved growing plants and beautiful flowers. She will always be known as the "Best Cook" in the family. Her legacy will be carried on through her famous chicken & dressing. Some of her favorite times in life were when her house was filled with love, laughter and all her children, grand and great grand children. She was known as "Hanny" by all of them. Lou will always be remembered as kind, loving and caring to all that knew her. She never met a stranger and welcomed many to her kitchen table. Her presence will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memories are her husband Bill Culley of the home; three children, Cheryl Johnson and husband Vernon of Brown, OK, Roy Culley and Jennifer of Hontubby, OK, and Carlene Reavis and husband Lance of Eagletown, OK; grandchildren, Kelby Johnson and wife Taylor of Brown, OK, Kolby Johnson and wife Courtney of Caddo, OK, Kaden Johnson and wife Cassidy of Brown, OK, Heather Siler and husband Charlie of Lovings, OK, Payne Reavis of Broken Bow, OK; great grandchildren, Lukas Johnson, Layne Johnson, Letty Jayne Johnson, James Johnson, Jobe Johnson, Cade Siler, Casin Siler and Hayden Siler; siblings, Linda Baugh, Kay Dene McBride, Eual Knapp, Gerald Knapp and wife Jana, Bill Knapp and wife Gina, and Wesley Knapp; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Lou is preceded in passing by Roy Griffith, Ual and Mary Knapp, Carl and Minnie Culley, and grandson, Daniel Culley. Pallbearers will be Kelby Johnson, Kolby Johnson, Kaden Johnson, Payne Reavis, Vernon Johnson, and Lance Reavis Honorary Pallbearers are Vern Hunter, Scotty Russell, George Humphreys, Jeff Palmer, Herb Moody, Todd Culley, Scottie Russell, and Chub Russell Visitation will be on Wednesday August 21st, 2024 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina. Services will be on Thursday August 22nd at 2:00PM at Prairie Grove Baptist Church in Talihina, Oklahoma with Bro. Justin Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
