Larry Joe Armstrong

Larry Joe Armstrong "Boney", age 82, passed away from this life on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at home with family by his side in Clayton, OK. Boney was born in Poteau, OK on April 10, 1941 to Richard {Judge} & Beulah (Perry) Armstrong. Boney was a heavy machine operator. He was the top dozer hand for Farrell and Cooper Mining Company in Red Oak OK for 25 years. After that, Boney worked various jobs. Working a period of time for Flint and Ivan Lloyd then settled into retirement. Boney & Judy were married June 25 1999 in Mena AR. From that day on if you saw one you saw the other. They lovingly called each other Big Darlin and Little Darlin. They enjoyed family, friends and traveling to casinos. At home, they enjoyed western movies and the game show channel while always trying their luck on scratch offs. Boney would spend his afternoons playing solitaire, visiting with their kind neighbors, and taking care of any stray cat that would come for a visit. Boney has been quoted as being one of the best dozer operators and artifact locator to ever grace these parts. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife & mother of his children Georgia Ann Hartzo; sisters, Violet McNutt, Sybil McKosky, Gladys Scoles and Alpha Westerdahl; brothers, Mack Armstrong, HG Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, and Leonard Armstrong; grandson, Cody Shane Armstrong. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Judy Armstrong of the home; daughter & son in law, Lara & Johnny Baggs of Poteau, OK; son, Tony Armstrong; stepchildren include, son and wife Billy and Amanda Simpson Tulsa, OK; daughter and husband ,Jearlyn and Jerry Nick of Okmulgee OK, son, Barry King of Mineral Wells, TX, son and wife, Shannon and Melonie King of Okemah OK; grandchildren, Amanda Clemons of Wister OK, Chelsea Baggs of Howe OK, Stormi Baggs of Roff OK, Chasity Warren of Wilburton OK, Abigail Armstrong of Red Oak OK, Remington Winchester Armstrong of Poteau OK; step grandchildren, Jason Baggs of Talihina OK, Jarred Baggs of Red Oak OK, Brandon Simpson of Tulsa, OK, Jeff Nick of Tulsa OK, Lacie Anderson of Andrews TX, Joshua King of Denison TX and Jenna King of Denison TX; brother & sister in law, Robert & Faye Armstrong and brother, Johnny Armstrong as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones and many beloved friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Johnny Baggs, Billy Simpson, Anthony King, Donald Mings, Jason Armstrong, Walter Blevins. Honorary Pallbearers are Ivan Lloyd, JB Lloyd, Clay Armstrong, Jason Baggs Services will be on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 at 12:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma with Jerry Nick officiating. Internment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Monroe, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
