John Mallory West

John Mallory West, 85, peacefully passed away on July 22, 2023 at his home. John was born on May 17, 1938 to Louis Edwin West and Wana Mallory West in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. John graduated from Will Rodgers High School in 1956. He then attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. John served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961 as a Carbine expert and a rifle marksman. Later he worked at various places including Kerr Steamship Company, Lykes Brothers Steamship Company and also the Army Reserve. After retirement John was involved and volunteered in his community. John married Darlene Helms and had two sons, John Mallory West, Jr. and Brent Helms West. Later in life he married Teresa Senn (Hancock) in Dallas, Texas and was blessed with two bonus daughters, Tammy Robertson and Kelly Johnson. John and Teresa lived in Grapevine, Texas for many years until they retired and chose Nashoba, Oklahoma as their home. John and Teresa shared 35 years of marriage. John loved fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was an avid John Wayne fan and watched all of his movies. In his free time you could find him relaxing in his chair, snacking on Oreos or any sweet treat and watching some sort of crime show or sports. He wasn't picky, he enjoyed watching any sporting event. John adored his family and any time he could spend with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of his favorite times were sharing lunch and fellowship at the Nashoba Community Center. There was a very special place in his and Teresa's hearts for their many friends and the entire Nashoba community. John was preceded in death by his wife Teresa West. His parents, Louis and Wana West. John is survived by his loving family, sons, John Mallory West, Jr. of Frisco, Texas and Mary West; Brent Helms West and wife Stacie of Flower Mound, Texas; his daughters, Tammy Robertson and husband Dean of Grapevine, Texas; Kelly Johnson and husband Ron of Waleska, Georgia. He was a loving Papa to Braylie West; Hannah West; Wyatt West; Caston West; Deana Hamilton, husband Jace; Danielle Robertson; Shelby Austin, husband Chase; and Dusty Johnson. He was a beloved great-grandpa to Parker Hamilton and Jayden Knoll. John was loved and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Pallbearers are Ron Johnson, Dean Robertson, Jace Hamilton, Dusty Johnson, Benny Butler, and Thomas Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Wyatt West and Caston West. Visitation is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at McCarn Funeral Chapel in Clayton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Christ Church of Nashoba, where John was a member, with Pastor Arthur Karnes officiating. Interment will follow at Nolia Cemetery in Nashoba. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nashoba Community Center in John's name at P.O. Box 72 Nashoba, OK 74558.
