Harry Odean Fitzgerald

Harry Odean Fitzgerald, age 91 of Whitesboro, OK passed away from this life on June 7th, 2023 in Muskogee, OK. Harry was born on April 7th, 1932 in Falfa, OK to Naomi (Chesser) and Walter Fitzgerald. Harry was known as a hardworking family man. He often talked of working with his daddy at a young age drilling water wells in the area. By the time he was 20, he was working in construction at the TB hospital, where he met his first love Alta Mae Sisk. He was drafted into the army and through correspondence his love for her grew. They were soon married. Seven children were born into their home. Harry would work hard, usually at more than one job to support his family. He built houses and enjoyed working with brothers, sons, sons in law, as well as others in the area. Anyone who worked with Harry learned that he expected everyone to work as hard as he did which was difficult to match. He also operated a bread truck, then a milk truck and finally a restaurant meat truck. After a long back injury, he obtained his real estate license and brokerage license and sold real estate throughout the area. Throughout his life, his faith in Christ and raising his children in church was most important. He was always proud that his children continued to follow Christ. And, each child worked hard whether it was in the mission field of Mexico or construction work, or in an office. He was proud of each one. Retiring from work at age 75, they moved to Porter,OK with Leah and Dana where Alta passed a few years later. In the months to come he found a new life and new love in Virgie who he treasured. They shared a passion for church, family and music. Throughout their marriage, he still managed to do some wood work as he simply enjoyed staying busy and making something. Harry also had a strong sense of humor and was witty through his last days. His family will continue his legacy through their love of God, family, work and lots of laughter. Harry is survived by his wife, Virgie (Melton-Sage) of the home; children, Ruth McClard, Leah Andrews and husband Dana, daughter-in-law Nancy Fitzgerald, Paul Fitzgerald, Luke Fitzgerald and wife Kimberly; three bonus children, Regina Kennedy, Diana Courts and husband Chuck, Debora Putman and husband Lane; Thirteen plus grandchildren; Thirty-five plus great grandchildren; Three great grandchildren; siblings, JB Fitzgerald and wife Edith, Carroll Fitzgerald, Raymond Fitzgerald and wife Patsy, Dewey Fitzgerald and wife Diana, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends. Harry is preceded in passing by his first wife, Alta Mae (Sisk) Fitzgerald; children Mark O Fitzgerald, and twin daughters Sharon and Karen Fitzgerald; parents Walter and Naomi Fitzgerald; Siblings, Marion Fitzgerald, Mae Bell, Georgia Parmley, Pauline Rose, Reba Holt, Herman Fitzgerald, Gladys Moore, JW Fitzgerald; son in law, Dennis McClard. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Services
