Geneva Brown

Geneva (Sturgeon) Brown went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 1st, 2023 at the age of 91. She had stated many times of her longing to go to heaven and be with her loving husband of 64 years, Eugene. Geneva was born on September 20th, 1931 in Yanush, Oklahoma to Helen Novella Hokit Sturgeon and Willie Edward Sturgeon. She met a "smart alec" boy in high school and didn't really like him but he grew on her and started "courting" on horseback on "ole Tony" and with walks home from church (with her daddy following them). They were married at Yanush, OK by Paw Sturgeon on July 3rd, 1948, after Eugene graduated and she chose to forego her senior year. They moved to Texas City, Texas and picked cotton. They later moved to Oklahoma City, OK where she was content to raise their three daughters for many years. When the girls were nearly grown, she ventured out and became a "cafeteria lady" at Capitol Hill High School for several years. They later retired and returned "down home" to Yanush where they lived together, sang together, and worked in the Yanush Assembly of God Church together and she showed her green thumb by raising beautiful flowers. Geneva is survived by her three daughters, Carla Killman of Yanush, OK, Kathy Timberman of Yukon, OK, and Nancy Wallis of Yanush, OK; one special son in law, Donald Wallis of Yanush, OK; one sister, Loretta "Rita" Cross and Al of Del City, OK; one brother, Melvin Sturgeon of Yanush, OK; grandchildren, Kelli and Chuck Walbeck of Yanush, OK, Kevin Killman of Eufaula, OK, Kortny and Khrisma Killman of OKC, OK, Gena Timberman of OKC, OK Andy and Brooke Timberman of OKC, OK, Gary and Diane Wallis of Woodstock, GA, Shawn and Chris Wallis of Durant, OK, Kim Wooldridge of Edmond, OK, Whitney and Coy Stephens of Metlakatla, AK, Ashley and James Hardy of Buffalo Valley, OK, Matt and Aisha Wallis of Poteau, OK; eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends. Geneva is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 64 years, James Eugene Brown; her parents, Edward and Novella Sturgeon; one great grandson, Uriah Cade Stephens; two sisters, Lenora "Nona" Linker and Leora "Tooie" Linker; one son in law, Paul Killman; and one grandson in law, Ted Wooldridge. Pallbearers will be Kevin Killman, Kortny Killman, Andy Timberman, Matt Wallis, Chuck Walbeck, and James Hardy Visitation will be on Thursday August 3rd, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will be on Friday August 4th, 2023 at 10:00AM at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, Oklahoma with Bro. Rodney Tate officiating. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
