Edward Glenn Mathews

Edward Glenn Mathews, 74, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on March 17, 2025. Born on April 6, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Ed, to the late Jace and Reba Mathews. Ed was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Brenda and a loving father and Papa to his children and grandchildren. Ed, fell in love with and married his soul mate, Brenda Kay Mathews, on June 22, 1968. Ed worked many jobs throughout his life but retired from the Department of Human Services, as the School Based Social Worker for Talihina Public Schools. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. Though Ed may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man who showed integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Ed's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed woodworking, perusing yard sales, and casting a line at Anderson Creek. He loved using his wood lathe and crafting beautiful hand spun pens. We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. Ed is survived by nine children: Wendy and Daniel Mitchell of Norman, OK; Devin and Rhona Mathews of Frisco, TX; Jerry Mathews of Buffalo Valley, OK; Miranda and Michael Friedman of Norman, OK; Renae and Cole Wheatley of Houston, TX; Megan and Ron McCoy, of Frisco, TX; Julie Mathews of Norman, OK; Krystal and Cody Simmons of Noble, OK and Ciera Mathews and fianc� of Norman, OK; one brother Bill Mathews of Merrit Island, Florida; as well as fifteen grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. As well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Jase and Reba Mathews, his wife Rev., Brenda Kay Mathews; two brothers, Don Mathews and John Mathews; and one daughter, Sherry Lynette Mathews. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Yanush Assembly of God Church. The service will be officiated by Bro. Dustin Grammar. The family visitation will be on Friday, March 21st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, OK. Services are entrusted to McCarn Funeral Services of Talihina, OK.
